Mindflayer's Interview at WotC

I would so buy a gnome "I'm a monster, RARR!" t-shirt for my 3-year-old! :D
I'd buy one for me.

I love that Gnome. I think these cartoons help make gnomes more lovable.

Though, the Trog was pretty good too.

If they are trying to make us all think that people hate gnomes, they are doing it completely wrong...

Count me in for the 4e Gnome fanclub!

...and where can I get one or two of those toddler-size shirts everyone is talking about?
I can pretty much see my kid saying "I'm a monster, rarrrr!"

Ummm... the funny is, besides a monster saying it, coding HTML is easy, implying the monster isn't very smart. In tech geek culture, saying "I can code HTML" is like saying "I know the alphabet" while interviewing for a college English professor position. Well, at least, some people might look at it that way ;)
If the mind flayer had stamped him FOOD after that then I totally would have agreed with you; it would have reinforced what you're saying.
I'm making far too much of this.

In the terms of WOTC, this one gnome has traction. :P
Yeah. Which I think is the point. That they want the gnome to be a beloved part of DnD; a lot of people liked Meepo the Kobold but most people wouldn't have wanted kobolds as PCs.

I'm surprised no one found the Dwarf's demeanor to be as incredibly funny as I did. The emphatic 'FOOD' stamping after his story was veering was just icing.
He was good. I laughed.
The veering was slightly cringe worthy.

That was great. I think they're getting better each time. Too bad we probably won't see any more after 4E's release.

I think part of the point of this is to give the gnomes more traction. They're more popular now thank to the "I'm a monster! Rarrr!" meme than they've been in years.

Couple of things.

1) The Gnome rocks. Everyone in my group thinks so. I will agree that Gnome-in-gelatinous cube going, 'Huh-what?!?' would have been great.

2) While this may be the funniest overall, I like the second one the best because it has more gnome 'screen time'.

3) The best line out of the gnome in my group's opinion is, "Who's my minion? Whoooo's my minion?" Two of us have started doing that all over the place at random intervals.

4) I think the Mind Flayer's voice is perfect. Maybe it's because I haven't heard all the designers' voices or something. He has the same voice pattern that you'd imagine Xykon does; bored executive. The visuals for the mind flayer were also excellent.

Edit: Oh yes, and I'd buy a gnome shirt for everyone I knew that'd catch the joke. Yes, I have a 4-year-old, and two nephews about the same age.
