[Mini-Game] Dark*Matter: Shades of Grey

Having looked over the original D*M book, it looks like they delayed access to spellcasting in the minigame to match what D20Modern does. I think 4th level would be about right (that's what I've done, anyway).

Dark*Matter characters seem to be able to get to the core of their concept pretty early on, and just become more competent through advancement, whereas D20Modern uses the D&D idea of growing into a concept. I definately prefer the former.

Lost reply. Alternity doesn't really work like that, but taking FX skills is expensive and restricted in Alternity Dark.Matter. (Not as much as I would have liked, but that's definitely a dead discussion.)

If you took the equivalent of 5th level Diabolist, from the article, at 1st level in Alternity, you wouldn't be able to do much else, and your FX abilities wouldn't work well or often. To take an FX broad skill (the equivalent of picking up one of the prestige classes) after character creation, you would need to be at least 3rd level and probably 4th to afford the skill points.

Anyhoo, while some have criticized that the material is not enough, so why don't we brainstorm and contribute here? Story ideas? Campaign Hooks? Stats (creatures, characters, equipment)?

Kirlian ID Scanner: The Hoffmann Institute's research into alternative energy sources and kooky beliefs has produced just a few useful results. The Kirlian scanner provides infallible recognition of the bio-energetic field of any individual, in a miniaturised unit that can be installed as an innocuous-looking shiny metal surface on any briefcase lock or door handle. Unlike a fingerprint or retinal scanner, it cannot be fooled by a printed copy or by more gruesome methods. The scanner can even diagnose whether the subject is suffering from infection, drugs or unusual stress levels so that he can be diverted for a full examination.

Anyone convert the missing creatures from Dark Matter to d20 modern?

Mike

I believe there was a web enhancement on the d20 Modern forum at WotC's site. Can't be more specific, but if memory serves it was a d20 Menace Manual enhancement, free download.

Which one's are you missing? There are several in Menace Manual.

I was trying to do the Fader from p.50 of Xenoforms. It isn't in the Menace Manual. I was stuck on the Dimension Walk and some of the other special abilities. There's a few other creatures from Xenoforms that haven't been converted.

I'm not that familiar with the Alternity rules. I've read through the web enhancement for the Menace Manual with the conversion rules but the special abilities for the Fader had me stuck.
