Mini Question...Transporting without damage

I would have gotten one of these Charon Battlepacks, but the shipping to the US was outrageous, so I got one of the Games Workshop cases. I imagine that was the 30 dollar one you mentioned.

What did I do before that? The simplest answer. I kept my minis in the blister packs that I bought them in. Sure, if the mini has to be assembled then it might not fit back in the box, but if it's already whole, no prob.
Just use a hobby knife, or any sharp blade, and separate just enough of the blister from the cardboard so that the mini can slip out when the backing is flexed. This way you can slip the mini in and out whenever you want.
Just carry the packs in a box or bag. If the blister kept the mini safe until it reached the store it should serve that purpose for you until you get a decent case.

Note: I wouldn't recommend this for painted minis, but for unpainted ones it works like a charm. And if you buy Reaper minis like you should, you get the added bonus of having that cute Reaper Succubus on the boxes. ;)

Although this seems to be out of your price range now, I've heard good things about the Army Transport case ( http://www.saboldesigns.net/website/armytransportx.html ). One the rec.games.miniatures boards someone said he filled it with his miniatures, tossed in in the air and let it fall and none of the miniatures had been damaged, or loosened.

In an alternate, funnier universe, the last line of your post would have been "...every single figure had chipped and broken into its component pieces because they had been packed into a box and thrown into the air."
