[Miniatures] Advice?

well.. being in Australia it is a little warm.. so that possibly speeds the drying..

but I have found if I wait about 3hrs, I can start on the next bit...All up.. It has possibly been 40hrs since I started this mini.. and all I have left is the left shoulder and left upper torso...and any knick knacks that I want to add. Plus because I am using a reaper starter frame I have found I only really have to do one layer.

I must say.. I am having a blast. My Half-Orc Monk is going great.. I think his style of Kung Fu is probably Tong Long.. based on his stance.

Yeah, I've also found that a few hours lets things set enough that I can continue on with other parts. Of course, that hasn't been a problem for me, since I'm quite the procrastinator - I started my guy several weeks ago, working on bits and pieces as time allows. I wish I could stay motivated long enough to go at the rate that Drakmar is - it took you what, 3 days to do your monk, Drak? Go, Speed Racer, go! ;)

A tip I picked up at a sculpting demo at Origins this year is to build a little oven kinda thing to speed up the curing process. It's a coffee can with the bottom cut out, so you have a cylinder open at both ends. You stand it on one end, put the figure inside, and cover the top with one of those metal dish-shaped light fixtures with a 40 watt appliance bulb. Oh, and be sure not to use it on formica or any other surface that doesn't take well to being the floor of a miniature oven. I THINK the guy was "cooking" the minis for about 20 minutes, but I wouldn't swear by it. I haven't tried it myself, but it seemed to do the trick.

Okay, time to wrap this post up so I can finish painting my own putty child. Hopefully I'll have pics up tonight - of course, I've said that before, so who knows. Fingers crossed...
