According to the Miniatures Handbook, when casting a spell using the Energy Affinity feat, the spell cast "uses a spell slot of the spell's normal level." (pg. 25)
Then we have the Sudden Energy Affinity feat, where, once per day, the spellcaster can cast a spell and apply Energy Affinity to it "without increasing the level of the spell or specially preparing for it ahead of time." (pg. 28)
First off, it does not make it at all clear that, if you are a spellcaster who needs to prepare spells in advance (a Wizard, for example) that you need to memorize "Acid-Ball" instead of "Fireball."
Second, what of spontaneous spellcasters like Warmages and Sorcerers. Does the Sudden Energy Affinity feat give those types of casters any type of enhancement?
