[MINII]Promo Huge Black

I received the promo Huge Black Dragon today in the mail. I have to admit that the mini is very disappointing. It is about half the size of a huge dragon from Giants of Legend. The huge base dwarfs the mini and makes it look pathetic.

If this is the quality and size of the huge minis in War of the Dragon Queen, then I will be making a lot fewer purchases of the set. I really feel ripped off for paying $15 for the mini.

I am really looking forward to mine (guess it will take a couple of days longer to reach the UK) and have been looking lovingly upon my huge gold dragon and thinking "soon I will have a black one that is this big too..."

Is it really that weedy?

Yep. It seems like it is right between the size of a large dragon mini and the huges from GoL. The base really dominates the mini.

It's just "fit" from carrying that rider all over the place.

I personally wasn't disappointed with it, it's a nice piece, well sculpted and a decent paint job. It still towers over a medium sized creature, and if I ran into one personally I would have serious bladder and bowel control problems.

After all, does size really matter?

The black's pose is different from the other huge dragons so that makes it look less imposing.

The black must have just grown enough to qualify as "huge".

I am concerned that the rest of the War of the Dragon Queen set will be this small. We are getting less figures in this set than the last huge set and what seems to be smaller huge models.

How easy would it be for someone with a hobby knife and a moderate level of miniatures-mutilating experience to carve off the rider and be left with a non-hideous-looking unmounted dragon?

The legs of the rider are part of the dragon's mold, so you'd have to server the rider at the waist and then paint the legs black. The legs probably would look like part of the dragon if they were black.
