Minis?

Hi

Any minis that people recommend for a modern campaign? All my minis are fantasy-based as I've played DnD exclusively. Doesn't necessarily need to be for D20 modern (CoC [modern], Spycraft, etc.). Companies? Suggestions?

Thanks.

Crystal Caste offers prepainted swa, 1900ish investigator, and gang member sets.

Foundry offers unpainted modern warriors like marines and such.

Someone has already mentioned

Foundary Miniatures (there a UK company but I believe they have US distribution) it's their Streetfighter range you're interested in, everything from SWAT teams to Skinhead games, jamaican yardies, you name it.

You should also check out Mark Copplestone's Future Wars range. http://gisby.org/copplestone.htm very good and pretty cheap.

EM 4 Miniatures does range of modern figures, some of which come prepainted figures. http://www.em4miniatures.com/

Also if you are doing the Modern Fantasy that D20 seems geared to http://ironwindmetals.com/ are still producing Partha's old Shadowrun figures although these seem a little small compared with todays 28mm ranges. But you can get trolls and vampires and the like.

That should be enough to keep you going.

I'd recommend the EM4 miniatures. I've got 2 each of their "secret agents" (which came unpainted) and their SWAT Team (which came painted). £20 well spent in my opinion

WOW!

Thanks for that link--very cool minis. I already covet almost every one of them.

Certainly has one of the best collection of modern female miniatures. Although Foundary probably have some of the best squads (inc. females), foundary figures come with additional weapons if you want to convert figures.

For those that have been collecting for a while you will notice that the unpainted EM4 figures are basically the old grenadier moulds, I think they bought them when Grenadier folded. And I believe Mark Copplestone worked for Grenadier designing those moulds so a lot of his earlier figures are similar.
