Minotaur and what feats would you select

Jaxom

First Post
If you had a chance to play a minotaur what are some feat combinations that you would select if you were building a Monte Cook Ranger / Barbarian. You can use any of the splat books as well (SaF, MotW, etc.).

To Corwin: Nice job on the incorp. thread.

Heh. I made me a Deepwood sniper NPC not a while back.

If we're going to play it? How many levels, seeing as a Minotaur has a hefty ECL.

Monkey Grip.

An interpretation we have is, if you have monkey grip that allows you to wield a (For medium creature) large weapon in one hand, then you should be able to wield a huge weapon in two hands (While still recieving penalties).

So you have a minotaur wielding a gargantuan axe.

Or, go the Monkey Grip/Ambi-Dex/TWF and wield huge/large axe. Penalties out the tush, but vicious.

Good point Xarlen. We're figuring right now an ECL of 10 for the minotaur and 6 character levels for a total of a 16th level character.

The DMG puts it at +8.

Actually, that is a bit misleading.

The DMG puts minotaurs at 8 Level Equivelants.

That's not the same as ECL.

+10 is more accurate for an ECL.

This has been gone over before on various threads.

P.S. - And thanx, Jaxom. Whomever you are.

ummm.. huh?
You can give it whatever terms you want, but the DMG is widely considered to be the first estimate of monsters relative power levels.

Further estimations were listed in a Dragon magazine issue.
Some people consider the DMG too low, while some consider the Dragon issue too high...

there is no 'official' source though, so it has to be calculated on a case-by-case basis and approved for each campaign, since it is not exactly "standard D&D fare."

Sure. I didn't say it wasn't. But what I did say was that the DMG did not do ECL the way it is currently being done.

Yep. And that still has nothing to do with the fact that the DMG system and ECL are two different things.

Of course. How could it be any other way?

In the campaign I'm running we're going by the ECL's listed in Dragon Magazine.
This thread wasn't supposed to be a question about ECL though, I was trying to get more ideas on what would be some feat ides for a Barbarian Minotaur. :)
