MiPS Lost Mine Part II

Brlo walked beside the group, lost in thought. He had no idea how they had ended up in this situation. Only this morning he had been wandering the countryside, looking for news of his uncle. And now? Storming a bunch of human bandits... Something had gone awry today.

"If y'be wannin' t'get 's killed i'd be wise t'follow t'path. Wh'happen' t'the fron' door? Awful 'uman stonework?"

Looking around in the failing light, Brlo feels insecure and exposed. Like someone is watching. "I'd b'happier in t'tunnel. 'Specially in t'dark."

Eddicus looks around at the other members of the party. "Did I mistake the consensus, here? If a frontal approach is generally disliked, we could as easily try the tunnel; but in that case I should put away the bow, as it needs more room to operate -- arching high, mid-flight -- than is available in a low-ceilinged tunnel. Should I scout ahead along the path while others stay behind; then report back with such new information as I have then found? We could decide path-or-tunnel then instead of now. I agree that a well-traveled path is more likely to be well-defended. . . ."

Eddicus looks at the others inquiringly.

OOC: To color the text: Instead of pressing the "Post Quick Reply" button, press the "Go Advanced" button. On the resulting Advanced screen, you get two versions of your intended post: one higher on the page that is a preview of how it will look, and an Edit box with rows of editing controls above your text. To set text color: Highlight the text you want to color -- ideally, the speech parts -- and select the control in the top row that is labelled with a bolded, Capital A (and a downarrow mark). When you select that button, you are presented with a choice of colors to use for the selected text; when you choose the color you want, the software automatically inserts the appropriate "COLOR" tags into your post, and you might be able to see them in your editing box.

OOC: The tags did work. Alright, then that means that you do know how to color speech text, so my advise is superfluous here. Thanks for asking and replying! I'm glad we cleared that up.
 


"I believe we have a misunderstanding here. We all agreed on frontal approach. But now we have a choice of going through the ruined house and trying to find where the thugs are. And going on this established path finding them easily, but most probably getting directly to their main door. Which is something we may not want to do. Or we may. Lets see first what we're dealing with.

Eddicus, would you come scouting with me, cover me with that bow of yours. Brlo, hide the party and try to cover us too as long as you can see us if we come into trouble."


Leonan starts toward the house corner, using ruins and bushes as cover, both from the house windows and from any guards who might lurk behind the corner. For someone who is supposed to be urban and who knows his manners, he is really good at using scant cover.

Brlo grunted in reply to Leonan, and gestures to the fallen structures ahead.

"Be 's'good 's'any here."

Behind the rubble, after making sure Vottr and Castagyr followed, the dwarf packed his staff away and unpacked his enormous crossbow.

"Trouble soon..." he muttered.
 

Castagyr looks to the others before continuing on and asks "Does anybody need any healing before we continue? I'd rather heal you now than attempt to aid you when things get nasty." and then continues to keep pace with Vottr.
 


As you approach the ruined manor house, you can see the crumbling stonework and massive timbers that would have held up the roof lying haphazardly on the ground. In several places, you can make out the remains of the roof tiles, the roof having long-since caved in over almost the entire structure. Weeds and even small trees grow in what would have been the front foyer and a once-grand staircase ascend into nothing but air. A slight breeze whispers through the remains of the manor, stirring up loose dust and ruffling the weeds and tree leaves and, in the air, there is the smell of long-rotten wood and of mold.
You can see, hear nor sense any movement but your own in the nearby areas. If not for the reports of the townspeople and other Redbrands, you would have no reason to believe this place had not been abandoned for years.
Taking a cautious scout around the nearest corner shows the path you'd seen before leading further towards the rear of the decrepit structure.
