Mirror image question..

I run with a question tonight in my campaign and i thought of asking the EN guys about it...

Here it is: When a wizard makes mirror image and makes for example 2 images, can he swap his position with the image?? I mean, can he make an image in the sqare he was when casting the spell and the wizard appear 5ft right of the image? Or all the images appear near the caster who cant change his position?

The wizard can only change from being in one square to being in another square by moving. But when he moves, he can merge and split from the images so observers can't tell where he ended up.

Yeah, the illusion magic is not that strong, The illusion can be maintained ,obviously, while moving however.
