I'm not sure if low-rez scans of just the maps constitute fair use or not. Anyone know?
it's a bumpy area where laws probably have been upheld & overruled back and forth and new laws are bought as we type. Saying what is and isn't permissible is not going to be easy, since this involves al least two countries, US & UK.We're talking about this down in the Meta forum, by the way. Our policy? We don't get particularly fussed about requests like this. We don't condone pirating out of print products, and we ask that people not request scans, but we're not going to overreact and suspend a member if someone posts to ask for a missing page.
I'm somewhat confident that was the case for software in the late 80's and early 90's, but i got no clue if that situation stuck around.ExploderWizard said:I'm not 100% certain but I believe that if the OP legally purchased the products that the maps belong to, then having a scanned copy to complete the product should be fair use. Unfortunatly, missing pages are a pitfall of the secondhand market.
