mithril armor?

If my ranger is wearing a suit of mithril breastplate (as described in the DMG), does he still have the benefits of his virtual two-weapon fighting feats?

Breastplate is a medium armor. Making armor out of mithril (if the armor was mostly metallic before) reduces the armor one weight catagory. By the rules, you keep your virtual feats.

I believe this trick is mentioned for barbarians in "Masters of the Wild" for fast move in mithril full plate.

I don't mean to hijack this thread, but I've wondered about a related question:

Mithril armor reduces armor category by one, but only non armor items have a half as much weight as normal, if I recall.

Why does mithril armor weigh as much as normal armor? Just a game mechanic thang, or an errata (or stupid Grundle)?:p

I always thought that mithril reduced the weight of all items that were made from it. Is the weight modification say "weapons" or does it say "items"?

Mithril Armor does weigh half as much as the normal version. Check the weights on the Dwarven Platemail, Elven Chain, and Mithril shirt in the DMG.

This makes sense. I just seem to recall the DMG's wording on Mithril excluding armor from the 1/2 weight benefit, I don't have the DMG handy at the moment, but I'll re-read it again tonight.

Mithral armor weight

You're correct that the mithral armor weight reduction applies ONLY to non-armor, non-shield items.

Why?

I don't know.

Some of the players in my campaign have raised the issue of Dwarven Full Plate and the Mithral Shirt. I just tell them the weight reduction on those items is because they're special items. (Hence the reason they're specifically mentioned) rather than because they're made out of mithral.
