Mixing Past with Fantasy

And let us not forget the games Northern Crown & Nyambe, set slightly ahead of the Victorian era, chronologically...

I think you mean "behind", not "ahead."

Victorian: 19th Century.

Northern Crown: 18th Century.

Masque of Red Death is an old D&D product that combines fantasy horror with the victorian era. One of the adventures that comes in the boxed set revolves around Jack the Ripper.
God, that was great. Best TSR product of its time. More recently, there was a d20 version of Masque of the Red Death by Arthaus. This link is to DrivethruRPG (for some reason it doesn't seem to be available at the affiliate store, else I would link there).

The original boxed set can be downloaded as a .pdf at the ENWorld Affiliate store. It is wonderful.

As was For Faerie, Queen and Country, which someone mentioned. Makes one nostalgic for the days when TSR/WotC had ideas and creativity, doesn't it?

so why didn't you use the term "before" rather then "ahead"?
Let's not bog a helpful thread down in a semantics argument. Obviously, he meant "ahead" moving in time from the medieval/fantasy era toward the Victorian. A tad arcane, but you can see what he intended.
