Errata to the errata

First of all, I am upset that they didn't errata the Darkmantle to allow Improved Grab to be used against Small and Medium-sized creatures. By the current rules, Darkmantles can only Improved Grab creatures that are Tiny or smaller. Yeah, that's really useful.

Second, HIRE AN EDITOR:

Under the Troglodyte errata:

"The affect lasts ten rounds. Once character has succumbed to a particular troglodyte's stench ability, or made a successful saving throw against it, the character cannot be by the same troglodyte's stench ability for 24 hours."

Affect? I suppose it's a morale penalty, but I still think the word they were clawing their way towards was "effect". And "the character cannot be by the same"?

I brought this up on another thread regarding d20 publications in general -- the editing is usually flawed, and it is sometimes horrible. It's even more shameful when a company with the resources of WoTC can't find time to proofread eight damn pages of text.

Text that one would hope would be mistake-free, given that it's supposed to be correcting *other* mistakes.

EDIT--

Hey, Axiomatic! Nice jab about the Hill Giant Chr of 17 :). What you say you and I round up a couple other anal-retentive types and put together a *REAL* list of errata to the Monster Manual?

Another fun error they didn't correct:

Owl: Tiny Animal w/1HD
Advancement: 1 HD (Medium-size)
2 HD (Large)

Um . . . wow.

Less egregious, but still having the "skip size category" problem:

Monkey: Tiny Animal w/1HD
Advancement: 2-3HD (Medium-size)

p. 56, Change the tyrannosaurus™s swallow whole entry to: Swallow Whole (Ex): A tyrannosaurus can try to swallow a grabbed Medium-size or smaller opponent by making a successful grapple check. A behir that swallows an opponent can use its Cleave feat to bite and grab another opponent.

Anybody else see the error here?

There is a more egregious error in that passage that I'm surprised you missed:

the character cannot be by the same troglodyte's stench ability

They are obviously missing a word.....
