MM2 Preview Starspawn

I do not like the humanoid form of the Maw of Acamar; I was hoping for a more otherworldly shape, specially since they seem focused on destruction and not on interaction with mortals.

However, I like the concept of the star spawn, and I found the stats for the Maw of Acamar very evocative.

Yeah, when I use 'em (and I will, oh yes, I will indeed) I'm going to mix up their physical description a bit. Probably leave 'em humanoid, but with a nasty, swirling vortex where their abdomen should be.

I will say, these things have me absolutely drooling for MM2 now -- more aberrant things for me to play with!

I think it'd be cool if they start out humanoid-shaped (you are what you eat), but once you bloody them they revert to a true form, full of tentacles and eye-shaped stars and such.

Me like! I can easily see this guy (and any others of his kind) being thrown into a ton of my games. I also like how while there is a nicely developing fluff (sorta reminds me actually of nWoD where there as well fluff pieces are slowly being pieced together) it can be ignored quite easily.

For those looking for a different style to its appearance what about this:

Lore of the Stars

Mike Mearls did these, and we liked his concept from the beginning. For those who asked, I just checked my MM2 copy, and there's actually more lore for the starspawn in the book than is revealed in the preview. MM2 is fluffier (?) than the MM, methinks.

That's the best thing I've heard all week!!!

Here's to a fluffier MM!!!!

Fluffier is my new word, think i'm gonna name a cat that.

Yes, I ought to say that I love the mechanics of it, and IMC if it appears it won't be humanoid as much as an amorphous shape of some kind.

THAT -- soooo very much THAT; although I do like the skin-being-a-black-starry-sky thing the official image has. Mix 'em up and that's perfect!

Man, that is awesome. Your crew has the talent and the dang book has the room, it really needed some more story background that is just fun to read other than stat blocks. If nothing else, the gory "description" of what's happening to PCs!
