MM3 recycled art

First Post
I've noticed at least one recycled piece of art in MM3, the corruption demon.

I'm also suspiscious of the elementals on page 82, since the earth and water elementals have the exact same pose as some older minis (don't have the corresponding fire and air elementals to compare), so if that's not recycled then the artist at least used the minis to "stage" the piece.

Still looking through the book. Anyone know about the elemental art, or of any other cases?

As long as WotC doesn't recycle anything by Dennis Cramer/Crabapple/McClain (I think they were the only three names he used) I'll be happy. I have yet find a single person who liked his stuff.

I have no problem with the art looking like previously published minis. Just like I not only have no problem with but desire my minis to look like my MM art.

My only problem with the MM3 art is that not every creature is illustrated. Someone please tell me what a Shard of Uralinda looks like so I can make a decent looking token (a monster this obscure, if officially MMed, will never have a decent mini) and my players can properly fear it when they first encounter it in my game.

The Kraken art is from an old dragon magazine cover. Maybe I'm just too picky, but I hate it when they recycle art, even good stuff.

And Dungeon magazine needs more art, too.

I don't mind recycled art as long as it's good art!

I've once read in one of their dev articles that sometimes they recycle art because none of the newly ordered art was as good as art they already had available. Makes sense to me.

I recognized one of the mirror dudes - the Nerra - from somewhere.

Recycled art doesn't bother me as long as it isn't overabundant and the art is decent.

So... the Corruption Devil bugs me, but just because I always hated the concept to begin with. :)

A piece or two- he did the pseudonatural griffon, right? I liked that one.

But in general, I dislike reusing art; gimme more pics to choose from! I understand the cost-benefit analysis, and it's not a major issue for me, but I definitely would prefer more.

On the other hand, the one thing that I think 4e monster stat blocks really need is a short description. There are lots of monsters with no pic and no description. :erm:
