How does MM3e play?

Have you used it for "near supers" or "non-supers" games like sci-fi, fantasy or modern? How'd it work?

Have you used the "lethal damage" rules in the GMG? How'd that turn out?

Your thoughts, opinions, and experiences are much appreciated!

I played a campaign with it. Some oddities, like having a reach advantage but it doesn't use a grid or AoOs so not sure where reach comes in at all mechanically. We were not playing with anything from the GMG. It felt easy to accidentally design a character to break the game. Super speed and spring attack. My Achilles concept high charisma super-tough guy warrior was very effective and shrugged off lots of stuff. Nobody ever really got the feel for how well off they were with damage saves the way we do with hp. Our campaign was near future super hero reality TV stars with a little supers induced post apocalypse of isolated cities.

Mechanically was decent enough, I'd do it again, but not really a system I or anyone in my group loved.

My experience with actually getting to play any edition of M&M was minimal. Based on reading rules, 3e did make some improvements but also screwed up some things that were just fine in terms of 2e, to the point that I prefer the older edition. A best-of-both would've been a truly great game.
