Modern Backdrops available and it's cool.

Run your browsers over to rpgnow.com and check out the Modern backdrops .pdf. There is a 6 page trial. I ponied up the $8.95 and I am very happy with it. Really how scenario packs should be done. I especially appreciate how the map files are provided in a separate folder to make printing, adjusting that much easier. I'm using it for D20 modern with the stats provided, but because of the modular nature it can be used by almost any system.

In the interest of full disclosure:

did you sign up with the goal of promoting that product? Since that seems to be your one and only post?

Are you going to gain anything for each purchase of that product via that link or otherwise?

Don't be offended, I'm just curious.

Howdy.... As someone who DOES have something to gain from each purchase, I'll say that I don't know who Tuculus is, though I do appreciate the comments. I'm Charles Baize (the editor, and the husband of the author), and I'm not going to post my thoughts on the relative worth of the product, though I hope people do give it a look.
As it is my wife's book, I tend to hope that Tuculus was inspired to post by her brilliant writing. :D But I won't try to speak for that poster (the only people we know in New Jersey don't game.... I think...).
Anyway.... just to set the record straight, and all. :)
I can't remember what my first post was... but I think mine might have been touting the worth of a game product, as well, even though I wasn't getting anything from it. Ah, well... welcome, Tuculus, hope you stick around and post some more. We do appreciate these comments, but don't be afraid to let us know what you'd like to see MORE of, as well. We dig seeing what we did right, but feel free to let us know where we were weak in the product along with it. If there's a second (Carrie is already working on it, but it will depend on sales, of course, as to whether or not RPGO will want to release it), then the comments about what it needs more of will help, immensely.

We also welcome comments from anyone else who has purchased Modern Backdrops, and would like to let us know what they liked or didn't like...
We'd certainly like to see more than, "It was cool." or "It sucked rocks.", such as the whys and wherefores. Anyway... enough rambling from me. Enjoy the book, man.. and let us know what we need more of.. I can't promise anything except that we'll take all comments into consideration.

Hi. Sorry for the confusion. My enthusiasm outstripped my sense of appearances. I am in NO way affiliated with any of the folks at Rpgobjects.com and I have NOTHING to gain from the sale of this product. This actually isn't my first post, I used to post under the name snak, but for some reason I haven't been able to post using that user name. I cleared the cookies and still no luck, so I just re-registered.

Anyway, I think Modern Backdrops is cool and at least worth the free trial download so readers can form their own opinions.

Apparently you don't become bias-free until after your 500th post :)

As someone who did not write MB, but did do mechanics lead-type stuff (problems with the statblocks may be directed to me) I think MB might be the best sourcebook for the Urban Arcana-style modern fantasy genre you could get.

It has lovely maps, lots of adventure hooks, and statblocks of villains and NPCs who might become friends.

Oh and did I mention a boatload of cool maps? :)

Its a nice GMs resource for many, many game sessions of trouble free DMing, and the maps are places you could set adventures in through multiple campaigns.

Just my .02

PS- did the guy with 14 posts just call the guy with 1 post a newbie? lol I just noticed that.

Pot to kettle, you are black.... :)

No actually I didn't call him a newbie, I just thought it was funny. One post recommending something often means...Profit. Usually I lurk www.slashdot.org where you have to be a little suspicious. On many boards posts recommending you go buy something with a link either come with a disclaimer or a full disclosure statement.

I'm not a newbie, here or online. I had an ID on the original Eric Noah's 3rd editition news site- with the same id (no spaces). I just recently resigned up here, again though.

I do think it is cool that the editor dropped by in the thread to explain things.

Muahaha! You all pale before my mighty postcount. Only Crothian do I fear! ;)

That said, I don't have this so can say nothing about it... ;)

I respond to any query/comment about a game I worked on with such rapidity one might suspect I had no life.

Chuck

suspect? I thought it was an absolute? :) Just kiddin'!

Tellerve

p.s. If my modern campaign gets some legs I'm going to get Blood and Fists...heck I'll probably get it anyway. I tend to buy stuff even if I don't use it just to imagine using it.
