I completely agreed with all of your other character builds, and even the stealth build was excellent (though it was just a stealth build and not a killer).
Which build is the most optimal depends entirely upon the style of the character. Since there is no sneak attack and the fastest way to drop a foe is to force massive damage saves, the strong hero really shines for the 'quick kill' character. On the other hand, the lack of skill points really hurts the class.

Modern skill groups really help all characters. Each class benefits from increased and eased skill acquisition, and groups are included for all the mundane core base and advanced classes; the utility and importance of starting occupations has even been maintained.

In the end, build the character your player will have more fun with. You could even hybridize the two to build a decent damage, decent stealth character (though you'll have a hard time building Riddick below level 12).
