Modern Conspiracy system

Looks like gumshoe is a diceless system. I have never been very fond of these, but this seems a new take on them. I'll have to give it a look Robin's stuff is usually pretty good. Though the diceless aspect could have the players percieve a DM against us scenario, especially in a paranoia type game - which is not usually a good thing.

If that's the reason you don't like d20, then Spycraft probably isn't for you either. It's not d20 Modern, but it's running a d20 engine under the hood (bonnet? did you say you were from the UK?) all the same.

Says you with your fancy faucets and suspenders (mmmmm...suspenders) ;)

I think I've now talked myself round in a circle - but thanks to everyone who has contributed ideas. If I can get the ConX combat sorted out then it looks like I'm going with a tweaked version of that. If my chargen ideas don't sit well with folks then I'll keep that part of it more traditional.

As far as adventures go, other than Spycraft stuff, I shouldn't have too much trouble adapting Shadowrun 'break and enter' type missions, and I also ran into a very nice online mag called Demonground (no isues for a while so its either become a print product or gone west, which would be a shame as it was really well put together) which started off as Dark Conspiracy fanzine, but later embraced a number of other systems like ConX and Delta Green. Just needs that big all-encompassing plot. Mwahahaha!

All of this and I've just bought Paradigm's Tales of the Caliphate Nights (which is beautiful BTW) and need to try and find time to write something for that too. Curse this life of working stiffery!

Hmmm...I didn't get that, but I didn't look too close at that area. I was more interested in the basic investigation idea (an entire adventure hinging on whether the PCs make the right roll(s)).
