We are happy to announce the Modern Dispatch, a new weekly Modern d20 ezine.

Each 4-5 page weekly installment will include a blend of generic modern material as well as content supporting our line of d20 modern supplements, including Blood and Fists, Blood and Guts, Darwin's World and others.

Charles Rice is managing content, including writing many of the columns.

It's been mentioned before - you need a teaser, or something like that.

And a piece of advice: the teaser should not be a new advanced or prestige class. It should be something useful, like part of an adventure.

I will most likly post a free back issue after the first month or so. It's kind of hard to do a teaser of something that is only 4-5 pages.

What's wrong with Pr Classes? :) 3/4 of the content of the dispatch will be adventure material related.

What time should we expect the e-mail, I'm on GMT so the 2nd starts earlier for me... :D

I can't believe I forgot about time zones. :) Barring any technical glitches, probably about Midnight CST.

I noticed a word document style template for Modern Dispatchs on your website and a thing about excepting submissions. What sort of submissions are you after?

Just stuff that fits the Weekly Columns

Modern Personalities
Modern Locations
Modern Mini Adventure
Modern Mechanics

or other stuff?

Those are only basic guidelines so people have some idea of what to expect. We want about 3/4 of the columns to focus on adventure building content. If you are unsure about a topic, email me the idea, and I'll let you know.

Just a little warning to folks, I found my hotmail account filtered the email from RPGObjects as Junk mail. So if you haven't got the e-mail check you junk mail folder.

After downloading it I'ld have to say I'm happy with my first issue, 3 more like that and its already worth the $6 price for the 3 month subscription, but considering its weekly, I'll think its a bargin.

One question however is why does the same 9mm round fired from a pistol have less penetration than one fired from a longarm? Is that a misprint, a balance issue or actually have some real world physics behind it?

Well- as I state in the introduction- one of my overriding design goals was to allow you to use those rules with any gun from any other source- from Ultramodern Firearms to d20 Future an figure out a weapon's penetration in your head.

In my opinion if the rules weren't this easy to use, there's no point. Realism was a far back seat.

So the armor penetration has nothing to do with "caliber" or any other such nonsense. Penetration is 1 per 8 points of the weapon's max damage.
