Modify Memory and Undead

Okay, rules question:

An important NPC we liked was just kidnapped and turned into a vampire by one of our arch-enemies. Before this, he had hired me to assassinate some business competitors (Red Wizards!), then asked that we modify his memory so he would have no recollection of planning/contracting the "hit" and my involvement in it, in case he was ever magically interrogated or physically tortured. We also took the opportunity to implant memories of how much he liked us and would never betray us, since we are all LE and paranoid, and the opportunity was there. Nothing too evil, just a few safety precautions as he was a bit of a soundrel to say the least. ;)

Does the modify memory effect remain in place even after his transition to undeath as a vampire?

The duration of Modify Memory is permanent. So I'd say the transition to Undeath has no effect on it. The magic is still maintaining the modified version of events.

However, if the vampire is ever the subject of a Dispel Magic there may be complications. :D

Humm.... that's a hard one. I'd have to agree that modify memory shouldn't be affected, but it's very reasonable to think it would be. Here's how I see it:

Immunity to mind affecting effects gives unbeatable SR.

If you cast spell resistance, put on armor of spell resistance or similar you don't get SR checks against any spells allread in effect on you.

Thus, gaining immunity (unbeatable SR) to Modify memory shouldn't stop the spell already cast on you.

Though I could easily agree with a DM who rules the other way, as well. "They become immune to it, so it dons't work any more" works for me, too...
