Ranes
Adventurer
I figured you may have thought I was talking about the Baba Yaga adventure from Dragon mag. I was referring to the adventure book though. It's still levels 7-20 (2nd ed). I once started converting it and found 3.5 stats for both Baba Yaga and the hut. I think I converted around the first 4 rooms and stopped because the players encountered the hut (the front yard) and then left when they determined the chicken legs were too difficult and this wasn't part of their main quest. Bummer, cause I was looking forward to running it as a side quest.
What a shame. It's always a little disheartening when players don't bite. Such a great theme for a dungeon, too.
You're right though, I was thinking about the Dragon adventure. I remember it being popular and it certainly caught my imagination back then. I never ran it or played it though. I was completely surprised to learn of the stand-alone second edition module (or campaign, from the sound of it). I only Googled it when I realised the module I'd been thinking of had a slightly different title. (I missed just about everything from the nineties, except bizarrely, Dragon Mountain.)
The rest of the adventures I listed are ones that I've made note of over the years whenever someone suggested it as being a fun module to run/play in. They are all from prior editions. Since I still play 3.5, it didn't occur to me until now that you may have been looking to convert 4e or 5e adventures.![]()
Well, I did use the third edition tag for this thread. It's what I still DM. I believe fans of every edition should be able to play the adventure of their choice in their edition but I'm only interested in converting well loved adventures to 3.x.
I'm surprised you are willing to tackle the Ro7P! Awesome! Thanks so much, and I can assure you that your work will be used in my game! I may even figure out how to use additional chapters in my current campaign if you manage to do them.
I might not be as mad as I think. Yes, Ro7P is a campaign and I came here looking for module suggestions. However, I was never going to stop at just one module, and this exercise may help me complete future conversions more quickly. Also, I looked on the web and it seems a lot of people have asked for this over the years. Sure, many of those people are playing 5e at the moment but it won't be the shiny new thing forever. Who knows, there may even be a 3e renaissance down the line (look at OSRIC). TL;DR? I think it's worth it.
