I noticed that the future releases on the Mongoose website has not been updated for a while. It only goes through November, used to show several months in advance. :(

Future releases

Hi Dragongirl,

We tend to update that page every x months for x months in advance (x being a nebulous concept based on how many cobras we've dealt with in the previous week)

The page will be updated most likely in the next couple of weeks but as a taster, December will see the release of The Quintessential Samurai and The Slayer's Guide to Yuan-Ti from our core d20 fantasy lines; The Rookie's Guide to Crazes for Judge Dredd and The Sessair tribebook and the third pard of our epic Slaine campaign, The Ragnarok Book.

Hope that tides you over until the new list goes up.

Slayer's Guide to the Yuan-Ti

Hey Dragongirl,

I co-wrote the Slayer's Guide to the Yuan-Ti with Chris Jones. (Chris wrote The Book of Taverns from Necromancer Games - a terrific book, and contributed to Occult Lore, specifically the Herbalism chapter, for starters.)
Chris and I really tried to give the Yuan-Ti an Asian, other-worldly type bent to it and we hope folks like it. At the very least, it'll be great food for thought.

Quintessential Samurai ? There's a samourai class in OA, but it's not OGC. So, you're going to make a new one, right ? I wonder how much similar they will be -- could such a book be used for the OA samurai as well ? As the sam is basically a customised fighter, it should be possible to dodge legal problems sneakily. Just avoiding putting feats, skill uses, or special abilities related to ancestral daisho and the iaijutsu focus skill.

Slayer's to Yuan-ti: What about tainted-ones and broodguards ? They are essential critters for yuan-ti meddling, but aren't OGC. Maybe one could also be sneaky and speak about "corrupted ones" and "histachii", but I'm not sure. It would be sad keeping them out of the book, however.

Hi Gez,

The Quintessential Samurai has no core class included. Sam Witt has been clever enough to ensure compatability with OA, Rokugan or even the basic Fighter class without stepping on any copyright toes. You should find everything fits together very nicely.

As for Yuan-Ti, strictly speaking we expand and enhance what is in the Monster Manual (OGC-wise) and no more. However, you will find a few surprises in the new Slayer's Guides - it think it rates as one of our better releases in this series :)

So no core class in this book eh? This sounds like an interesting idea and if it works well, can probably be done with other concept 'classes' like the ninja.

The Yuan-ti is one of the better books eh? I enjoyed the SG:Medusa so would you say it was in that range or ?

The last time I looked in on Quintessential Samurai, it had a core class for completeness sake, but this is not required to use the book in any way - you can use the rules equally well with another Samurai class, or even the common Fighter. . .
