(Mongoose) New Licence Announcement - This Saturday!

MongooseMatt

First Post
Mongoose Publishing is currently getting ready to make an announcement this Saturday about a new RPG licence. Based on an extremely popular gaming IP, this licence will herald a new system which will be utilised for many different settings (much as RuneQuest has been used), and will feature Open Content mechanics, allowing fans of the game to produce their own material.

Set for release in early 2008, this game will enjoy a superior level of support, designed to draw gamers into a multitude of new worlds and possibilities.

You can get the full scoop at our convention, Mongoose Hall 07 or, if travelling to Swindon (in the UK) is difficult for you (!), on our forums Saturday morning.

If it's of the same tier as RuneQuest, that really limits the field ... Traveler?

That would be how many published systems for Traveller? Travller, Mega-Traveller, Traveller: The New Era, GURPS, T20, HERO . . . what else?

Maybe it's not RPG gaming.

I know! It's Texas Hold 'Em: the RPG!

;)

If it's a computer game license, I really don't see the point. Have any of them really been a success? Even WoW was pretty much just a small blip. The Sims is actually sort of RPG-ish, but the player is really more like a DM, world and NPC building, I don't think it would translate well.

Maybe something like Final Fantasy, but I don't think Squenix would bother, since they basically can make all the money they want with little effort making remakes of past games.
