Mongoose New License

d20 Halo would be kinda cool but I have to agree that a d20 Starcraft has a lot of potential. d20 Half Life or d20 Doom might also work well (survival horror stuff).

trancejeremy related these factoids from the chat:

Well, I was just at Mongoose's chat on ENWorld, and though I missed about half of it, they did drop some hints while I was there.

1) It's from Sony

2) It's a full fleged deal, not just an RPG, but graphic novels and I think a wargame

3) there are 3 different versions, and mongoose will try to mesh them together

4) there is room to add factions

Mongoose Matt droped this "curious use of language and possibly hint-filled" statement at RPGnet:

All that said, development of the new licence has recently gone into overdrive at Mongoose Hall. I predict some will turn their noses up at the licence, some will become rabid with the idea that we will destroy the original 'vision' (you'll understand that when you hear what it is ) but for those of you who stay with us, and I hope that will be many of you, I promise an _awesome_ gaming experience.

Countdown to Victory begins. . .

Band of Brothers has been suggested, but I'm not so sure.

Starship Troopers

Sony put out the ST movie. Sony, IIRC, put out ST: Roughnecks. That is a movie and a cartoon. There is a ST book by RAH. There you have your 3 different versions, which are slightly different from each other (some would say alot.)

As for the reaction, many will put their nose up (because of the facist portions of the book and movie, which a stupid reaction , IMO), others, fans of the book, will be pissed cause they are incorporation the movie and the cartoon.

As for factions, as I've discussed elsewhere , we might see Mormon Seperatists, or as someone else pointed out, The skinny

ST already has comics, books, wargames, games, etc. It would not be a stretch to see them continue that.

This is going to sound crazy, but who has the Everquest license and when is it up for renewal? That's pretty big. It's from Sony and the use of the terms 'faction' and especially 'vision' (a word often used by the developers at Sony) put me in mind of Everquest. There would be three versions if you count the current d20 Everquest RPG, the online Everquest and the Everquest RTS wargame they've been coming up with. Its a big enough property for wargames and graphic novels. Offhand, I really can't think of anything else at Sony that would qualify.

I'm probably wrong, but its just a thought....

d20 Dune?

I'd love to know what happened to the d20 Dune which was underway (and some people saw) at the GenCon where 3e was released... I heard it was pulled because of licensing issues, which was a bit of a tragedy...
