If you've picked it up, what do you think of it so far? I thought this might make a good chrsitmas gift for some of my more rules-oriented friends.

I picked it up hoping for a good quick reference book I can bookmark heavily and not worry about ruining my WOTC PHB.

Let me know what you think and if you think it is a worthy gift.

Thanks!

We have 5 PHB's at the table usually.

Personally, I do not see a need for this product.

Well yes, but in your case, your group doesn't have a need for any PHBs whatsoever (either from WotC or Mongoose), because you've already bought five of them. But the fact that your group doesn't have have a need for more WotC PHBs doesn't mean that there isn't a market need for the WotC PHB, and exactly the same logic applies to the Mongoose mini-one.

The point is that for people who haven't yet bought a PHB, or who are thinking of upgrading from 3rd Edition to 3.5, this might prove a more convenient alternative.

Full Disclosure:- I do freelance work for Mongoose, and think they're a really great bunch of guys, so my opinion is very much not that of a neutral. :)

Thanks for the disclosure. I am going to look at this PHB alternative at my FLGS -- it looks pretty usefull and I don't have a 3.5 one

Here's my question--and I'm very serious about this: is it really pocket-sized? Seriously, the development of paperback-novel sized supplements would pretty much rock my world.

Please tell me that this is the first shot in the revolution?

That's a nice try, but you should know by now that you have to put your disclosure in a bold, red, preferably obscure font. Thus, I can only conclude that you are trying to hoodwink us by trying to slip this under the radar.

It's not the first shot at any rate.

Look up "Darksword Adventures", by Margaret Weis and Tracy Hickman. It's a roleplaying game set in their Darksword universe, published in paperback form. I found it in a used bookstore mixed in with the regular darksword novels... clearly they didn't realize what it was (Since the used bookstore in question STARTS roleplaying games at 10 dollars, and goes up from there, even used ones).
