Mongoose Publishing's Pocket PHB

You know, there might be a market for a 3.0 version - especially for new players in games using the 3.0 rules now that the old edition is no longer all that easily available.

The Auld Grump, who uses 3.25 - a mixture of the two sets....

I looked at it and thought it was great. The only thing keeping me from buying it was that it was 3.5.
Exactly. I wish someone would have done this for the 3.0 ruleset. I have several players who never bought a PHB, but instead use the 3.0 SRD that I burned onto CDs for them.

It would be perfect for them since cirtain individuals in thier chain of command don't exactly think that it's a wholesome hobby.

That's mind-boggling.

Better than half of the people I played any form of D&D with for my first decade of gaming were either military or ex-military. From my understanding, military bases are the best places to find gamers, bar none, leaving even college campuses behind.

This statement hurts my brain.

They are. Unfortunately my friends just happened to be under the command of someone who is still stuck in the past and believes the game is evil. He can't stop them from playing it. But he can make sure that they never get the time together to play. Not to mention he's the one that signs thier progress reports(Very important to promotion). It's really sad how ignorant some people can be.

That really is too bad, the time I had as a squad leader in the Army I used role playing games quite a bit for training purposes. I think making a call for fire correctly in a role-playing session is much more fun than doing it for a test (EIB). We also had a lot of role-playing that we did in field operations, especially practicing evacuation of non-combatants and handling unruly crowds. Too bad your chain of command can't see the effective use of games as a (fun) training tool.
