The previously unidentified "middle ground" fans such as yourself seem to like Conan OGL but are open to a RQ version of Conan as well. Happy now?
If the RQ fans were taking your approach or saying why they think RQ were a better fit without tearing down the Conan RPG there would be less vitriol on both sides. Coming from the "Conan Diehard" camp I must say that listening to subjective D20-bashing in the forum dedicated to the Conan OGL RPG gets old after a while.

I understand where you are coming from, and your second post clarifies your stance....Your first post read as quite black and white, which is why I responded as I did.
I think D20 Conan is the best product to come out using the D20 System (to be precise, we all know it's OGL, but it still uses the base D20 system), and while I am also a fan of D&D, I really enjoy the old "BRP" (Basic Roleplaying) system that Runequest uses....Unfortunately, there were things about the BRP system that needed an update.
From all appearances, the Mongoose Runequest system is going to fix all of my perceived issues with the old system, and I do think it will be a great fit for the Conan setting, but I'll wait and see if it's better than D20 Conan once I have played it. If it's not, I'll be sticking with D20 Conan.
The knee-jerk reactions of folks over on the Mongoose forums who cry "Boycott Mongoose" or "All the books I have bought for D20 Conan are wasted" (based on the rumor and pure speculation of what the future holds for the D20 Conan line and any possible version of Runequest Conan) are a bit ridiculous.
While I understand the sentiment of feeling slighted if D20 Conan is dropped in favor of a new system, or altered in someway (duel-statted for both systems) I think Mongoose is probably smart enough (based on past actions) not to alienate the current fan base, and everyone should just take a few deep breaths and wait and see what the company says before freaking out.
Then again, this is the interweb, and we are talking about the RPG community....so I should probably expect a bit of high-emotion, generalization, and a rapid jump to conclusion without all of the facts in hand.
