D&D 3E/3.5 Monk 3.5

The Half-orc would be nice....for the +2 Str. Dwarf would be good too, FWIW.

Now...how 'bout them feats? How come ya got so many?

:) No, not exactly.

A Mnk 1 gets:
  • bonus feat: Improved Unarmed Strike
  • bonus feat: either Improved Grapple or Stunning Fist
  • normal 1st level character feat: Any
....so you really don't get just any ole feat as bonus feats. The options are limited.

A Mnk 2 gets:
  • bonus feat:either Combat Reflexes or Deflect Arrows

A Mnk 3 gets:
  • normal 3rd level character feat: Any

...and at 4th level you don't get anything extra.

Or if you're planning on taking Improved Trip instead of Improved Disarm (Which you shoud :) ) Then, you get to many AoO's it isn't even funny.
 

A tripped opponent, as he rises in your threatened area, gives you one AoO. What other sources of AoOs will you reliably get?
 

Honestly, that's all you need. Once your flurries let you surpass the Fighter in number of attacks per round, you can constantly find yourself surrounded by prone opponents rising to their feet on their turn.

That, people trying to get away from the flanked position you put them in, and fighting while in rough terrain from a stable position when your opponents can't 5' adjust will all give you additional AoO's.

Not to mention it's a gateway feat to Hold the Line, Karmic Strike (iirc), and others.

Beside's, it's up against Deflect Arrows. Is it that difficult of a choice?

True! :)

BTW: A Mnk needs to be surrounded by standing opponents before he can be surrounded with tripped opponents.

Surrounded Mnks become dead Mnks in short order, IME.

But going Weapon Finesse, you have a single stat affecting your offense and defense. A 12 Str monk with 20 Dex will have +5 to attack, AC and Reflex saves.
