Monk: Half-orc or human?

Figured why I put Evasion in there... I borrowed the (3E) book from a friend who has 3E and 3.5 - he said there were almost no changes... I called him to hear what it said about monk feats; 3E's Evasion was changed to FLurry of Blows and Evasion then became 2nd. lvl. feat - boy, did that cause me a lot of frustration :p

- And can I add the str mod to my Flurry of Blows, when not using a weapon??

Languages?

How can your character know three languages (Common, Elven, and Draconic) if your Int is only 12? Since your Int modifier is +1, I believe you can only know Common plus one bonus language.

Burn 2 skill points on Speak Language.

I just thought of something, just as a lark. Can a monk do an unarmed two-handed attack, the same way someone could choke up on a mace to make it two-handed and add 1.5 his strength mod? I'm picturing the two clasped fist attack so favored by Kirk in Star Trek TOS.

@Scion: thx.
@Runtime: Does the bonus language equal the int mod? 'Cause then it's a mistake...

[EDIT] Nevermind that, I missed a page :) [/EDIT]

@melkorspawn: hell no, I can live without the elven :p

If your going for the more combative monk I can see the half orc

You'll eventually be able to pick up improved trip, so the lack of the int 13 you would normally need won't be a problem.

If your going the half orc, use the str to your advantage. That means grappling. I would pick up improved grapple. Eventually you'll get tripping as well and both will be helped by your str.

I just wanted to point out that, in one of the more common Dungeons and Dragons adventure settings, viz. the Dungeon, the half-orc has an advantage over the human in the stealth department that can't be entirely negated by the human's skill points. It's not easy to sneak around in a pitch-black cavern ... carrying a torch. ;)

That's why the human eventually spends some cash on Goggles of Nightvision or a Belt of Dwarvenkind, perhaps eventually a Robe of Eyes - no need for a torch!
