Monk: Half-orc or human?

Well, the problem is that, even with the feat, you won't be able to take levels in Monk after taking levels Dragon Disciple.

Your only real hope is to convince your DM to override that restriction. :)

Yeah, so, since that's never gonna happen, I think I'll just go pure monk :)

[EDIT] Pure curiosity; You said I wouldn't be able to retake monk levels after taking DD - would that mean I'd still be able to take 4*monk/4*sorc/3*monk/9*DD (where the monk/sorc levels are taken in any way, as long as i get Ascentive Mage or w/e)?

Were it me, I would (with a human of 12+ INT and 10+ CHA) take 4 monk/1 Bard/10 Dragon Disciple. You already have the draconic language, all you need is drop 8 Skill Points into Knowledge Arcana. (6 Base from Bard, 1 from INT, 1 from Human). At level 15, when you're a half dragon, with an additional +4 to STR, +2 to CON, +2 to INT, wings, natural attacks, a breath weapon, blindsense, and whatever other goodies you get as a DD or through dragon apotheosis into a half-dragon, at that point, I'd think about whether I wanted more levels of monk, which, if I did, I could probably PrC my way into (Tatooed Monk from Complete Warrior, or somesuch)

i would still stick with human cause thats what i did.

If your looking for a quick monk than i would suggest the " Run " feat. This lets you run at 4x's your base land speed and since you gain speed as you advance your monk, you will be UBER fast :)

If Somehow the DM is going to let you class over into a Barbarian than you are already able to move 40' a round which makes you faster than your party already.

Lets say that your base land speed is 30' , your barbarian gives you +10' ,and lets say your a lv. 3 monk......gives you +10' .,.,.,.,.,.,total 30 +10+10 = 50 ft a round. Now if you take the " Run" feat = 50 x's 4 =200 ft a round..... WOW

Lets also say that 1 lv. of barbarian and 9 lv. of monk = 30 +10 +30 = 70 x's 4 ==280ft

Now as im doing this it seems just a little wrong....when your speed increases is it considered your new base land speed? If so that thats awesome. If it doesnt count as your new base land speed than it would still be awesome cause your still fast as hell.

Plz correct me if im wrong about the "Run" feat.

HAVE A NICE DAY!!!!

Yeah; Run lets you run at 5x speed when in medium, light, or no armor. 4x is without the feat.

Mind you, I have no idea how a human with no feet could run...

HAHA FUNNY!!!! though my question still hasnt been answered. What im asking is if the bonuses add to your Base Land Speed for the purpose of the "Run" feat, or if if adds on at the end AFTER you take you 30ft. movement and multiply it by 5.

ex.

base land speed =,.,30 ft.
a lv. of barbarian = +10 ft.
9 lv. of monk ,.,.,.=+30ft.

Would it be:

a) 30+10+30 = 70 x's 5 = 350ft a round
b) 30 x's 5 = 150 +10 +30=190ft a round

Either way it is still faster than i think i would want to travel...i would end up tripping all the time and falling flat on my face.

It's the 350'; the barbarian and monk bonuses adjust your base land speed. And definitely try not to trip, and watch out for Walls of Force; that's about 40 MPH ... SMACK!!!

And what would that be if you factored in Player's Guide To Faerun's Fleet of Foot?
