Monk/wizard cross class

I have a player playing a...monk/sorcerer/rogue/fighter/order of the bow initiate.

Specifically: Rog3/Mnk8/Sor3/Ftr4/Obi2

Oh, and to top it off, she has an amulet that allows her to cast her true strike spell as a move action three times a day. I mean, that's all it does, but, hell, that's pretty useful for this character.

Actually, she's a lot of fun. Her maxed skills are Diplomacy and Sense Motive. She's the party's negotiator. She ALWAYS carries her bow, and has taken as many feats as possible to support that. And, given that enemies basically see her as an archer, boy are they surprised when she's more dangerous up-close-and-personal and without a weapon.

Anyway, for backstory reasons, I allowed her to dip in and out of all of these classes, and it hasn't been a problem. She's no tougher than the other characters in the party.

As a Sor3, she's not a big threat dealing touch spells, but, she can, and so that's kinda fun as well.

There is a feat in DCv1 called Ring the Golden Bell, which allows a monk to use his unarmed attacks at (limited) range, including any effect he could deliver with an unarmed attack, including stuns or touch spells.

And in that same book is another feat, Kung Fu Genious, which basically subs Int for Wis on all the monk abilities.

For the Monk/Sorcerer, there's Ascetic Mage (add Cha to AC instead of Wisdom). If you start at high enough level to qualify, it's a nice combo.

Indeed. Specially if you later multiclass into Paladin and take Ascetic Knight and Force of Personality. You'll be adding you Charisma bonus to AC, saves and to Will saves (instead of Wis) vs. enchantment effects.

If Ascetic Mage worked for bards as well as sorcerers (the text specifically says "sorcerer" for the AC bonus part), you could even take Devoted Performer (to be a lawful bard) and Snowflake Wardance. Then you'd be adding Charisma to AC, saves, Will saves, attack and damage (!!!).

There are non-Bard ways to get Bardic Music. Virtuoso, for example.

In our War of the Burning Sky Campaign, there is a monastery, called East wind, the feat allows you to freely multiclass between monk and sorcerer and allow charisma bonus to replace wisdom. Our monk/sorcerer is taking this.

Ascetic Mage does that, plus:
- Sacrifice a spell-slot to add that slot's level to your attack and damage with unarmed strikes for 1 round
- Add Sorcerer levels to Monk levels when determining AC bonus
