Monks & Armor

First Post
"A monk’s special skills all require freedom of movement. When
wearing armor, a monk loses her AC bonus for Wisdom, AC bonus
for class and level, favorable multiple unarmed attacks per round,
and heightened movement
. Furthermore, her special abilities all
face the arcane spell failure chance that the armor type normally
imposes."

Exactly which monkish abilities are lost when wearing armor? Is it only the ones mentioned in the previous sentence? (above in italics)

Evasion mentions light and no armor, but some light armor has spell failure and thus the sentence makes no sense to me.

Fast movement mentions that it only works in no armor and light load.

Exactly the ones mentioned are lost. Everything else has a percentage chance of failing.

Thus if wearing armour:
- you cannot move faster than the regular speed for your race
- you don't get the Wis and level-based bonuses to AC
- your unarmed iterative attacks are at -5/-10 etc, instead of -3/-6 etc.
- everything else, including flurry of blows, leap of the clouds, evasion, deflect arrows, improved trip, still mind, purity of body, wholeness of body, etc has a % chance of failing. No, it doesn't really make sense for some of these abilities to be affected by armour. Feel free to house rule the heck out of it. :)

Evasion would work like this: if you're wearing medium armour, it doesn't work full stop. If you're wearing light armour, there's a chance of it failing.

Or, better, just don't use Armor. It's not stylish, you'll lose to much abilities, and you can get high enough AC with your Class bonus, your WIS bonus, your DEX bonus (who has no limit if you wear no armor). And, of course, there's always amulets of natural armor, rings of protection, and bracers of armor....
