Monster Builder - can you sort/filter on terrain?

NewJeffCT

First Post
If I wanted monsters that thrive in various types of terrain (swamp, mountains, forest, aquatic, arctic/cold, desert, etc) - is there a way to do that via the monster builder? I don't really see anything that allows me to sort or filter on terrain.

Thanks

In short nope.

In long Nopers!

I'm still amazed at how craptacular the monster and character builders are, they've had a year with the character builder and it's still not as functional as the old one. :(

The new monster builder just makes me angry in so many ways. It could be good but at the moment its a steaming pile of you know what.

Thanks - I was also hoping I could do things with the monster builder like upgrade a standard monster to an elite, or upgrade an elite to a solo (you know, like the old monster builder)... but, it still seems like I can't do that yet.

If you have access to the old monster builder use it. It's still very functional at building and upgrading monsters. I still use it. IF they can get the online tool to that point it will become functional (that and if we can export to RTF!)

I am a very patient man, but I have lost patience with the absence of house rules in the CB. It's now a source of constant frustration to my table (and is clouding my opinion on what is otherwise a pretty decent bit of software).

As for the Monster Builder: it has its uses, but building monsters ain't one of 'em. (For example it can be pretty good for finding monster art.)

The lack of houserule support annoys the heck out of me. They seriously need to enable houserule support, like STAT.

That said, their old houserule support was kind of crappy, so I don't know if I agree that it was anything to lament not being there.

I still get the feeling that houserule stuff will be linked the the adventure tools in some way, so that when a DM wants to run a game he sets all the houserules and then the players see it in the CB when they select a certain campaign (making things easy to do for use at the VT)

But they need to DO IT.

P.S. wasn't there supposed to be a "big" update to the MB at the end of last month? (Or was it coming in september?)

Just checked, and that was september.

I cannot install Silverlight at work so the usage of Silverlight is a real problem for me. Fortunately, the Compendium doesn't use Silverlight so I can get to that.

As others, I still use the old Monster Builder. I bet I'm losing out on some new monsters, but c'est la via. The new MB is completely worthless if I cannot copy to a word doc and screen captures are a pretty lousy way to do it.

That sucks... It was the opposite for me. I can't install anything on my work computer, but it has silverlight, so I can now actually use the DDI on business trips without carrying around a second laptop. :D

Well, surprisingly I can install anything I want on my laptop using Trusted Desktop Tools, but while on the company network I cannot access wizards.com. Actually, I can't even access ENWorld.org. But, I mostly use a two-monitor desktop workstation on a subnet (program-specific), which does allow access to those sites. Just, I can't install Silverlight (or anything else that has not been approved). It's really kind of a cruel paradox if you think about it.
