Monster Builder Details 7/13

I'm anxiously waiting for this - I really need it! Making monsters is much more fun then ever!

I'm also waiting for the vapor-were.

I'll miss being in the limelight

But you will always be the light in our hearts!

The only thing that I want WotC to do after they get this out the door is to get their server infrastructure setup so they can host user generated content. I know they attempted that before… but it looks like they are really getting behind DDI and they seem to have people in charge that know what the heck they are doing : )

I'm assuming you can save monsters you have built to reuse later?

Assuming that is the case, will it be possible for 3pp's to release their monsters in the same format? Eg When you buy a copy of Goodman Games Critter Cache's (say), as well as the pdf, you also get a (XML?) file ready to be imported into the monster builder?

With the state of the GSL, probably not I am guessing. Looks like I will have to manually enter them myself. Annoying, but not a deal breaker. If I could get the file automatically, I think i would buy every monster book produced. Needing to enter all that data myself makes it so much less attractive.

This really makes the statement "Can never have enough monsters" true :)

Yeah it does look awesome. God damn, I am going to get so spoiled by DDI tools that making campaigns for other games is going to be so annoying in comparison.
I've actually been wondering about this. With all the accessibility features of 4e, and because D&D frequently leads the RPG industry, will other companies have to step up to digital tools in the same way to remain competitive?

I'll miss being in the limelight, but it is a pretty big relief to not have to support the monster maker anymore.

I wanted to take this opportunity to thank you for your work on the Monster Maker. It's incredibly useful, and has been a godsend in speeding up prepwork for DMing. :D

If WotC makes builder functions that make your other scripts obsolete, I'll be a very happy camper indeed. Until then, thank you!

The vapor-were is a long-rumoured creation of Peter, son of Adki (known as the "Wizard of the Coast" in some circles), a powerful necromancer renowned for bringing even dragons back from the dead. He announced some time ago that he was this close to perfecting a method for raising a ghostly lycanthrope. He was too optimistic in his announcement, however, and soon had to make a year-long journey to a lower level of the Abyss where new and powerful undead are constantly being developed (called Development Hell by some) in order to learn new techniques. Now, finally, it seems his creation is ready.

Asked about his achievement, Peter responded "Come on, Team Fortress 2 took 8 years to come out. Give me a break. Have you ever tried raising a lycanthrope? It ain't easy!"

The vapor-were added, "oooOOOOOOOooooo".

And if they don't, I'm considering creating a wiki which will host such content. I have a fairly clear idea how this could be done, though I won't be able to actively work on it until the end of the month (due to my upcoming thesis defense).
