While there is no mention of magical beasts, if the creature has an Int of 1 or 2, it can work.Pinotage said:On another note - this critter is going to be the animal trainer for the Sahuagin, training sharks and other animals. In 3e a character could use the Handle Animal skill to rear magical beasts, but alas, that's missing from 3.5e. Is there a 3.5e way to train and rear magical beasts?

Also, while it's 3.0, there is the [Creature Type] Trainer feat(s) in the Arms and Equipment Guide. Requires Handle Animal 8+, and creatures of the chosen type with Int 4 or less can be reared or trained as if they were beasts.SRD said:Special: You can use this skill on a creature with an Intelligence score of 1 or 2 that is not an animal, but the DC of any such check increases by 5. Such creatures have the same limit on tricks known as animals do.
