My gods those are awful pics of Demogorgon... Oh where oh where has my 1E MM gone, oh where oh where could it be?

I agree the first one is awful (though that's because it's got hyena heads instead of baboon, like it should), but I rather like the second.

Well, it certainly is a disappointment to hear two heads has been delayed for a YEAR.
Then again, the delay will all but guarantee that the D will be a tougher opponent than the star of the first Monster Manual - you gotta amp up the challenge as the players become more familiar with the system. Hee hee.

I think I was the first to call out this particular detail here. Make it a Komarck pic too, plz k thx? ^_____^

Regardless of the quality, or lack thereof, of the pics above (and I like them both, really), I'm really baffled why would anyone find the 1e MM pic of Demogorgon good without massive doses of intravenous nostalgia. ;)

I found his stat block online.

You don't understand my pain!
In a huff, Emogorgon retreats to the Pain Lair
Encounter, recharge 4,5,6
Target: Emogorgon
Effect: Emogorgon retreats to his parent's basement for 1d6 rounds.

Poetry recital
Emogorgon recites awful poetry about death and suffering
At-will, ranged 10, burst 20
Target: All enemies within range with the power of hearing
Damage: 4d10 + 10. Enemies who do not muffle their ears during their next round of action suffer 10 recurring damage and bleed from their ears. Save ends.
You, my friend, are made of win.

I think that there are only a handful of depictions of Demogorgon that really catch the eye. Some examples:

However, I personally like the lither, long-necked design better, such as in this image:

...I am sorry to say it, but Demogorgon is one of those things that no artist could save. The very concept of a two-headed baboon with tentacles for arms and chicken feet is so ridiculous that it can never look good.

I think I am still waiting to see some kind of high-level D&D demon that looks half-way decent.

At least the MM2 might have Frost Giants...

Hey, let's get some more ideas going:

MM I: Orcus
MM II: Demogorgan
MM III: Cerberus
MM IV: ??
MM V: Takhisis
MM VI: ?? (A Committee* of Demons!)
MM VII: ?? (Super-Hydra!!)

MM 3 = Yeenoghu (for his triple-headed flail)
MM 6 = Graz'zt for his 6-fingered hands

To me it sounds like something out of a sick fever dream. In other words, wholly appropriate.
