[Monster Manual I] I've only just realized...

I got two words for you:

Talisa.

Soto.

Well, okay, she's nice to look at. But if that's all I want, I'll find pics on the Internet. ;) I expect people in movies to be able to act at least a little bit, but Soto made everyone else in the Mortal Kombat movies look like Patrick Stewart or Ian McKellen.

Heh. The original MK was at least watchable, even if Bridgette Wilson's Sonya Blade didn't know how to throw a punch, and Kano went down too fast (but the actor was very good, in that I had players wanting PCs that looked and spoke that way for a while after the movie). Liu Kang was also a great fighter, and Scorpion/Sub-Zero looked very good.

Back to the devourer, though, I wish they'd kept that Brom picture above for the MM. That's SO much more evocative, I might have actually used the monster!

Yep. I always liked Trevor (Kano) Goddard. I was really disappointed to hear he committed suicide some years back. :(

Addendum: It was a drug overdose that caused his death. At the time, I read a lot about suicide, hence my comment above. I thought I'd better make sure, though, and the sources I can find now suggest it was an accidental overdose. So now I'm not sure which it was.

But he's gone either way. :(

The original Mortal Kombat has so much going for it!

-Goro was a practical effect- no CGI there!

-Radien gives the best slow-clap in cinema at the conclusion of the dining-room brawl

-and as for the writing, get this: All of the major characters are introduced (and there are a bunch of them) and the tournament is set up in like eleven minutes. For those of you following along with a copy of Sid Field's Screenplay, that is one of the most economical first acts ever.

Yeah, Brom's devourer kicks the crap out of the MM and PSMCIII pics. It helps that the picture has some background to it too.
