Monster Manual Update: Kuo-Toa and Sahuagin

Here.

These are pretty cool. I'm really enjoying the whole "Monster Manual Update" series, and I have to admit that once they're done, if they released a print collection of the updated monsters (Monster Manual 1.5 or some-such) I'd probably shell out for it. With any luck these will appear in a future Monster Vault.

If it keeps me from having to do the math involved in updating the MM1 critters, I'm all for it.

I just wish that they'd do them more often.

Looks like it, yeah. Now and then a power gets some slightly changed mechanics. They're all redone in the new stat block format too, which is nice. Of course they haven't really taken on any of the really seriously borked monsters either.

Does anyone else think that the focus on these 2 monsters in the update is gearing towards some kind of corebook / campaign release?

Yes fishy monsters are cool but why the update?

Just read the Kuo-Toa and its was pretty good.

It did need more of this however:

Logan Bonner probably selected them because they're classic monsters and because they weren't too bad off mechanically. They were probably linked together this month because I believe they're the only two aquatic races in the MM.

Yeah, I don't really see any indication from WotC that there's going to be any kind of nautical/undersea kind of setting development in the near future. At best it would seem like we won't see another setting for at least a year.
