Monster Multiple Attacks and Flury of Blows...

Bear

First Post
I am currently playing a werebear monk.

In hybrid/bear form, I get 3 attacks (regardless of level): claw, claw, bite. The claw, claw is done at my BAB and the bite is done at -5.

As a Monk, I have the ability to use Flury of Blows. The srd states: "When unarmored, a monk may strike with a flurry of blows at the expense of accuracy. When doing so, she may make one extra attack in a round at her highest base attack bonus, but this attack takes a –2 penalty, as does each other attack made that round..."

Does this mean in hybrid/bear form, when I am able to do a full attack I can use my Flury of Blows to claw(bab-2), claw(bab-2), claw(bab-2) bite(bab-7)?

Do natural weapons count as monk weapons?
Can you make Unarmed Strikes using natural weapons?

If the answer to either of the questions is yes then you can use you natural attacks in a Flury of Blows.

My personal opinion is that natural weapons do not count as monk weapons and that you can not make Unarmed Strikes using natural weapons. This means that when using Flury (or any other attacks with Manufactured weapons which IMO Unarmed Strike counts as) all of your natural weapons that are usable can be use to make secondary natural attacks (additional -5 for each) in addition to your normal attacks with manufactured weapons . In this case a Monk level 1 with 2 claws and a bite attack would have this set of attacks Unarmed Strike (-2) Unarmed Strike (-2) Claw (-7) Claw (-7) Bite (-7). You could use monk weapons in place of those Unarmed Strikes but that would prevent the use of one or more claws.

I'd have to say NO. When attacking with natural weapons a werecreature would be reverting to a primal style of fighting. The moves of a monk are practiced and precise. Sure you'd still get one hell of a strength modifier for your wereform but it is a total different fighting style. Think of it this way, would a veteran boxer be able to go in to a shaolin temple and immediately master every move? Of course not, the fighting style is totally different. He may have learned to fight dirty and be able to dish out the damage when fighting in his more familiar boxing. If he attempts to fight only using the newly learned moves of Kung Fu he'll still be a novice. This was one of the reasons why in 2nd edition AD&D you had to start your Thac0 chart all over again when you dual classed and you didn't gain XP from an encounter if you used your old classes' fighting style. If you don't make a conscious effort to use your new style you don't learn it.

You can't use non-monk attacks as part of a flurry of blows, so no, he can't do that.
