Monsters of Arcanis: Borne of Nightmares Open Call

What file format do you wish these to be in? I am assuming from my previous experience that you're wanting .rtf files with one monster per file. However, assumption can get your monster thrown out :)

I would prefer .rtf or Word (.doc) files. You can include all the submissions in one file. In fact, that's preferable.

BTW, I just received a submission from an author and I'm very happy to see that the quality was very high. I would like to mention however, that monsters that are not in the OGL, such as Mindflayers, should not be included in the submission (such as in background information, etc).

Also, I should note that Arcanis does not have Drow. We do have a very vicious Elven nation called the Malfia that fit that niche quite nicely. Elves in Arcanis are called Elorii and are not Fey; instead the five Eloran races were created from combining an Elemental type and the Life force of a Goddess. The Elorii were created to be a slave-warrior race for the Ssethregorans (the reptilian Empire) for use in their wars of genocide and conquest. Eventually they revolted and overthrew their scaly masters.
The Elorii in turn had their empire destroyed by humans when the Human Gods devoured four of their five gods in the God’s War.

Just a little insight into Arcanis, in case anyone was interested.

Hi,

I'm interested in cooking up some monsters to submit to this openc all, but I'm having a problem viewing the sample monster layout pdf - all I'm getting is a blank page, there doesn't seem to be anything there. Is this just me, or is there something wrong with the link?

Cheers,

- Chris Allen

I can still see it fine, and if the link was missing you wouldn't even get as far as a blank page. Check to ensure your Reader has the latest patches.

If you still can't see it, essentially here's the format (minus the columned layout the example was in, which we don't have to worry about anyway.) Henry can correct me if I missed anything:

Armor Class: (+ Dex, + natural) touch , flat-footed

Sorry to hear that you're having problems with the PDF. If you like, I'd be more than happy to email it to you. Send me your email address to:

Not sure if email addresses are stripped, but I'm sure you can figure it out.

I have a monster or two that might fit the "Borne of Nightmares" subtitle very well, but they're underdark based monsters. Would they fit in your Arcanis setting? I don't want to send something you're going to automatically reject.

We do have an equivalent to the Underdark which we call the Lavender Way due to the light effect given off by the lichen that permeates the entire area.

Just remember to keep non-OGL stuff out of your write-up and it should be OK.
