Monstrous Heroes: Character Concepts

Hurrah! More Kobolds. :D As it turns out, my name stems from a Kobold Wizard I played (very briefly) :(.

But the idea for Ak'riss is, an organization has went out, and selected humanoids who are apt at the Arcane, and trained them as wizards. Then, while setting them up with a dependency on the organization's wealth for their arcane needs, has sent them out to train others of their tribes, bests, etc, so they will be loyal to the organization.

It seems as if many of the folks who want to play unusual races in my experience want to play them as paladins. Anyone else run into this?

Now other than a Kobold who's come to avenge some wrongdoings on his people (yes it has to do with my name) some concepts I might throw around would be...

The Orc or Ogre that's too smart for its good. He has a high intelligence and finds himself surrounded by idiots everywhere he goes.

A Beholder mercenary, who happens to be "mutant" (game mechanic wise no different from any other) and therefore belongs to no beholder nation. Other beholders would try to ruthlessly exterminate this one.

An awakened ex-familiar cat who after the death of her master, decided to follow the path her master took by studying magic.

A doppelganger (though not many know that) bard, who happens to be a very good actor known for his chameleon-like ability to adopt many roles.

The Imp who simply doesn't have what it takes to be an evil fiend, as he's too pathetic for a devil (and likely Chaotic Neutral). He spends most of his time instead hanging around adventuring parties, following them, asking annoying questions and generally being a nuissance to everyone.
 

Gamarrah the Wild - A Gnoll barbarian who charges into combat, running on all fours. Wields a mighty axe, snarling and howling in combat.
 

Atishai -- alcoholic pseudodragon Bard (an actual NPC)

Other ideas I'm planning on using:
- Earth Mephit Monk
- Dragon PsiWarrior
- Ghoul Cleric (of EVIL)
- Fire Elemental Druid

Jerival -- CG Drider Ranger, stalker of the Underdark. He interferes with Drow war parties to protect the Snvirfneblin and any other good people underground.
 

Rakanar - Imp enchanter, with an imp familiar.

Gibberfiend - Fiendish, half-fiend gibberling ranger stuck on the Prime Material Plane, trying to exterminate PMP Gibberlings because of their sheer stupidity.
 


Yet another kobold...
Galthus McDougle. He was a just a hatchling when the feud between the gnomes and the kobolds erupted into all-out war. His parents were career soldiers in the kobold militia, and were slain in the fighting. A gnomish commando from a very Scottish gnome family, Floogle McDougle, took pity on the orphaned creature and adopted him. Galthus was raised in the proud military traditions of the McDougle family, including training in mounted combat, smokepowder pistol training, bagpipe playing and a strong sense of honor. After acheiving some measure of fame as a crusader for justice among the gnomes, he ventured into the adventuring world, his only friends his pair-bonded giant cave lizard and the bagpipes his "father" left to him.

Long story short, a Scottish kobold paladin with one Gehenna of a back story.
Never got to run him, though. Pity.
