Another quote from the "You know you live in the Midwest when" list:

Midwest - the only place where you use the heater and the air conditioner in your car in the same day.

Y'know what I find interesting? Every city and region in the entire world uses this saying, and they each claim that it's 'a saying from their area.'

People in Texas say it. New Yorkers say it. Chicago natives say it. Californians say it. The French say it. The British say it. My uncle says it about Australia. They say it in China, Africa, various Pacific Islands, Russia, Germany, Mexico, Brazil, and just about any other place that you can think of.

There are people all around the world who say: "Well, you know what they say about ::insert random city/region/suburb/nation/hole in the ground here::... If you don't like the weather, wait 5 minutes and it will change!"

I wonder where this saying really originated, and which specific city or region it was actually meant to apply to...

;)

... Californians say it. ...

;)

Southern Californians do NOT say it. As drothgery said earlier, we have basically one type of weather in Southern California. Most of the time, it is right around 72 degrees out. It can rarely rain, and it can rarely get up into the 90 degrees, but generally, it's sunny and pleasant out. Wait five minutes, and it will still be sunny and pleasant out.

P.S. I know what the secret project is, and I'm not telling.

Okay, so it was like 20C here for a week followed by -10C and more snow than we've had all winter.

Oh, at last somebody that uses the Celsius degrees!
Right now we are at 15°C, and I hope it will climb to 20°C for the weekend!

I know... I meant that post as an exaggerated generalization. I’m sure there are plenty of areas in the world in which the weather is fairly constant. It's just that the saying is freakishly common world-wide.

But I have had some Californians tell me it, though. Some areas of California are probably more prone to changes in weather than others… California is rather large, after all. ;)

Going with funny degrees, in Chicago we were (wait, a sec...carry the 2...) a little above 30. (88-32)/9*5

It was the the famous Samuel Clemens (Mark Twain) and the quote, originally attributed to him, was "If you don't like the weather in New England, wait a minute."

You American use a funny way to "count" your temperatures... What the hell does 80 degrees mean, except an angle? :)
I can tell you what 25 degrees celsius is - (It`s pretty hot for East Frisia... And here in East Frisia, we say there is no bad weather, just bad clothing... :) )
