Is it going to be a full color hardcover, ala the PHB, or is it going to be B&W, like the FFG Legends and Lairs books?

Thanks,
    Jason

At that price, I'm going to guess that it's black and white. A full color hardbound would be around $40 (like Oathbound). Of course, I'd be willing to pay the extra $10 bucks...

It will be a B&W book. As always, we are using some of the best interior artists we know of--Sam Wood, Toren Atkinson, David Hendee, and more.

Color is a little more expensive, and we do want to make the book as afordable as possible. But that's not the whole story.

Color vs. B&W is a weird issue for me. Back at TSR (pre-WotC) I saw a lot of good books ruined (well, ruined is a strong word, I guess, but you know what I mean) because there was a push to have all color books, assuming that color art is always superior to B&W. It's not. In fact, I learned then that from my point of view, mediocre B&W is better than mediocre color (problems show more blatantly with color). So I guess to some degree I'm soured on interior color art.

But whatever. We're not planning on getting mediocre work of any kind. I just like B&W, I guess.

It may not fit with other artists styles, but for B&W art if I was going to champion anyone it would be Liz Danforth, whose art I have adored for years.

Just to say I second your opinion on Atlas' Seven Strongholds, probably one of the most useful products (to me as a DM) that I've bought.

As soon as I got it home I'ld already decided to slide the Briar Keep into Scarred Land as the Broadreach Elves stronghold. "Backdrops" also by Atlas has the same utility, and I'll probably pick up there town/city one as well I think its called Seven Cities or something like that.

*bells go off in tleilaxu's mind* .... *we have a winner folks!*

Consider this as the sole reason that convinced me to buy this book

Hey, it's not like Monte's the only person who's had that idea. There's Sovereign Stone, and Call of Cthulhu (which Monte wrote). :) Of course I'll buy Monte's too, but I want to see the whole thing, not just the magic system.

Personally, I like cheaper. :-) Though, while color books pretty, it has never mattered to me.

Any chance of at least getting glossy stock paper, like Relics & Rituals? I'd much prefer that over the paper used on the FFG books (though it doesn't stop me from buying them!).

Chris

Well, we're still a bit off from the time that we'd be pricing paper stock, but let me assure you that we're doing all we can to make this a quality item.

We're doing the same with the Arcana Unearthed DM's screen.
