Hey all…
The thread with the “You shall not pass!” cleric move got me thinking about the cool things my players have done since 4E has come out. Unfortunately, it’s a rather short list.

Kobold Hall
Area 3 – Skull Skull!
The rogue scouts a little bit ahead of the other two party members and stealthily peeks around the corner to see a bunch of kobolds swinging a rock over a few coffins. He says the next time the rock comes across the nearest (bottom left) coffin he’s jumping up and grabbing the rope. It eventually does, and he spends his surprise round on an Acrobatic trick to grab the rope and swing to the open space on the top right platform. He then wins initiative and attempts to Positioning Strike the Kobold Slinger off the ledge. This doesn’t quite work, because he instead crits and kills the slinger outright! He then Action Points and Sly Flourishes the minion that’s in front of him. So before anyone else has even had a chance to act, he’s swung over a pit of goop, and killed two enemies in dramatic fashion. What makes this especially cool was that this was our first 4E “adventure” and this particular player was the most resistant about making the switch to 4E.

Keep on the Shadowfell
Area 12 – Hobgoblin Guard Room
Again, the rogue showed off his trickiness in this encounter. The PCs entered the room, and gave the false password. The Hobgoblins sounded the alarm and one of the hobgoblins (the rightmost one) started heading out to warn Kalarel. He moved his 5 squares and got to the corner of the eastern hallway. I believe the paladin ran ahead to cut off the escape. The rogue then moves out and flanks the hobgoblin, and scores a crit with Positioning Strike. He is an Artful Dodger with 18 Charisma, which lets him slide the hobgoblin 4 squares. This happens to be the exact distance to the well. The hobgoblin fails his saving throw and falls down the well, taking enough damage to kill him. So a level 2 technically one-shotted a level 3 Soldier.
And that’s about it… We’ve only run those two adventures so far, having just finished KotS last weekend. Although I bought Thunderspire Labrynth, these modules are so bad we're skipping it and I'll be homebrewing from here on out, so there will be more opportunity for "cool stuff".
Later!
