More Deepwood Sniper goodness...

While it states the miss chance is reduced, it never states the "and must guess targets location" is negated nor does it state that you change concealment degree (it stays at full concealment not 9/10 or less).
So, reducing concealment miss chance below 50% still requires you to guess the location.
You can make a spot check to determine where he is but if you close your eyes you cannot make a spot check (pg 83 dmg under blinded).
You can also make a listen check and if you make it by 20 you can pinpoint him. (good luck)

So a human DWS shooting at an orc located in a darkness spell would be reduced from a 50% miss chance (how much depends on level) but would either have to make a listen check to pinpoint the orc or guess his location. (Spot would be impossible since he cannot see in darkness)

But if that orc was behind bushes which should give 3/4 concealment (dense foliage 30%) then blast away with a reduced miss chance.

And don't even think about closing your eyes like the original post stated.. Look at blind in the dmg pg 83. ouch

Correcting an erroneous conclusion made by Kai Lord while he posts from work is the first step to becoming a member of ENWorld. Welcome to the boards.

The ruling on True Strike that you might be searching for is probally from an E-Mail that I got from the Sage.

When I got the E-Mail I posted it on these boards.
I think under another user name.

So you have multiple personalities is what you're telling us?

Is there anyway to improve your guesses? Listen checks?

there is a feat in the Kalamar Players Handbook that lets you automatically guess the location of a concealed opponent, but you still suffer the 50% miss chance with the feat. An Epic Deepwood Sniper with this feat could automatically guss the targets location and ignore the 50% miss chance.

The feat in guestion is called Blindshot.

And for the record, by the letter of the law the deepwood sniper prrojectile abilites (keen arrows, range increment bonus, improved critical, consistent aim and true strike) functions with all projectiles: bows, crossbows and technically even whips...

by contrast, concealment reduction, magic weapon, safe poison use and yes, even take aim, work with any weapon, ranged or otherwise.

Okay, does anyone want to explain to me how Blindshot might be of more use to a Deepwood Sniper by letting him automatically guess where his target is?

Blindshot : General
description-> you can shoot at targets that you can't see.
Prerequisites: Point Blank Shot, Precise Shot, and Dex 13+.

Benefit: By using your senses, your character can target an unseen target as if the target were invisible (50% miss chance).
The target may be invisible, beyond the character's range of sight, or 100% concealed (as with a darkness spell). It may not be a target around a wall, on another plane or otherwise out of range.

where in the above feat description does anyone see "can automatically guess the location of target?

Am I misreading or over-reading this feat?

IS IT saying that "Yes you see the bastard, but you will have a 50% miss chance to hit him."

OR IS IT saying that "Yes you can shoot at the bastard but you need to guess the location and have a 50% miss chance, becuase your senses tell you he is somewhere near the corner of the room etc..."
