Pre-orders are live for the upcoming Forgotten Realms books, with one D&D Beyond listing providing some new details about digital DLC released alongside the books. Posted today on D&D Beyond, the "Forgotten Realms Ultimate Bundle" will include three digital expansions - Astarion's Book of Hungers, Netheril's Fall, and a third "secret" expansion to be named later. The digital expansions will be gradually released over a three week period. Astarion's Book of Hungers will include new player options, while Netheril's Fall will be an adventure book of some kind. Page count is not available, but currently the only way to get these three digital expansions will be through buying the "Ultimate Bundle," which has a whopping price point of $159.99 and includes both physical and digital versions of the other Forgotten Realms books.

What (little) information we know was provided by D&D Beyond and can be seen below:

  • Astarion’s Book of Hungers: a digital expansion where players can indulge in their vampire desires with new player options, monsters, and adventure content – all shared by Astarion himself! | Release Date: November 11, 2025
  • Netheril’s Fall: a digital expansion where players can explore the lost Netherese Empire in a time traveling adventure | Release Date: November 18, 2025
  • A secret third digital expansion – to be revealed soon! | Release Date: November 25, 2025

So I'm confused: is this official, player-facing content that's only available (such as we know now) via D&D Beyond?

The three additional supplements will introduce 8 races, 3 backgrounds and 18 feats. All of the backgrounds and frats are in the Astarion book along with the dhampire race. The other 7 races we do not know but will probably be in the 3rd unlisted book. The middle book is an adventure

I get that, I'm just wondering if this content is (as of now) going to be online-only, and exclusive to D&D Beyond. If so, I'm going to have to miss out on it.

Yes, currently it will be exclusive to DDB. It may make it into future print books, however.

EDIT: Actually, I think these DLCs will also be available through Roll20 and the like, so it's more accurate to say they are "digital only" rather than "exclusive to DDB".

I think it's probably closer to a timed exclusive. For example, I am going to wager the dhampir isn't going to remain exclusive to this, but maybe the backgrounds will.

So the dhampir and the feats and background that go with it will probably be put into a horror themed book when they do one like a Ravenloft supplement. The other 7 races will probably go into a book eventually but we don't know when that might happen. The other 7 races will get rounded up into something like Mordenkainen's.

I'm trying to think of what I'd need the page count and promised content to be in order to pay that price. I don't think that threshold could be met by WOTC. I'd have to see some reviews and know these books are awesome, or have a trusted friend highly recommend before I'd invest that much hard earned coin.

Well, naturally can't break tradition. Has to be seven different Elven variants so we can have the option for said Mutt-Elf variants.
The 2024 PHB covers High, Wood and Drow. So, that would leave us with Eladrin, Sea, Winged and Shadar-Kai as potential elven progenitors for Half-Elves. It would be neat if the Rockseer Elves were brought back for 5e IMO. :)
A lot of people have speculated that updated Genasi will be in there. If so, I wonder if they're going to be broken up into four different entries? Elves and Tieflings have different sub-types in Revised, but at least in MotM the different Genasi types had a lot more variation than them.
They would have more variation if each of the classic four had ties to their associated para- and quasi-element too. ;)
