More examples from Weapons of Legacy

I think that if all magic items in D&D were geared in a similar fashion (woe for weal) it would be more attractive. I like the idea of magic having a kind a dangerous flavor (even if I'm not sold on the implementation). But since that is not how the game is geared, I don't see much attraction in a product like this.

A'koss.

where are the gp going when facing an earth elemental in battle? Are you hiring him to be slain?

I suspect the gold is simply a way to measure the value of an item, and thus to assess how much the character has when dishing out further treasure.

As a player, I don't know that I'd take a weapon of legacy, with those penalties. Especially for a rogue or bard -- those hp losses will literally get you killed.

As GM, unless there's more to the penalties than has been shown, I think I'll just ignore the penalties.

At present, the previews have made be LESS LIKELY to buy this. But, I will read through the rules bit & see if it clarifies things a bit.

Same here. I can't see why I'd want to wield any of these weapons so far...the abilities don't seem to be worth the penalties attached.

Perhaps one of my friends will get a copy I can look at.

My guess is those feats you get from performing the rituals removes -or at least lessens- the penalties.
