OK, D&D first… I’ve just finished up my part of adventure H2: Thunderspire Labyrinth. I’m pretty happy with the way it turned out. I think we’ve managed to capture a striking mood with the setting for the adventure (a great subterranean minotaur city, now in ruins), and I’m pretty proud of the map I put together for one of the adventure sections. My part of the adventure features a duergar stronghold. We decided to do something a little more ambitious than making them “the drow of the dwarves,” so we took the half-fiend durzagon and made our 4e duergar more like that. Duergar are a race of corrupt, devil-tainted dwarves. Some can turn invisible, some can enlarge, and others command nasty infernal powers.

Are Minotaurs a race now, sufficient in population to build cities?

My Dragonlance conversion is getting easier all the time! ;)

So ... instead of being "the drow of the dwarves" they're the "tieflings of the dwarves"?

Edited because Irda Ranger beat me to it.

Wait, minotaur weren't a race in 3e?

Honestly though, part of me wishes they'd have went with Derro. Because Derro seem way more intriguing and creepy than duergar.

When I got a Derro mini, I thought it was like some kind of evil gnome!

I'm glad they did something with Duergar. I always found them to be a neat concept, but poorly executed.

I mean, why do they all get bigger?

I made up an "Ecology" article a few years back, where I explained that the Duergar grew jealous of their Dwarf cousins and asked their dark god for an advantage. Their god then granted them the ability to grow larger, thus the Duergar could "lord over" their cousins... but since he is a dark god, he also cursed the Duergar by taking away their beards.

That's right, dark dwarves without beards. What greater monstrosity could exist?

MAYBE the new stuff is better :p
